The daily Habit is about SPF
The Most Powerful Anti-Ageing Product? SPF. Every Day.
A new report from Face the Future has revealed a surprising truth: 45% of UK consumers still don’t wear SPF daily. And yet, the most essential product in any anti-ageing routine isn't a fancy serum or overnight mask — it’s your daily sunscreen.
According to the 365 Days of SPF report, just 23% of people ranked sunscreen as the most important step in their skincare routine — compared to 32% who prioritised moisturiser. Even more concerning? Only 20% strongly agreed that UVA rays are the leading cause of premature skin ageing.
Let’s be clear: they are.
Why Broad-Spectrum SPF Matters
Not all sunscreens are created equal. You need broad-spectrum protection — meaning your SPF shields your skin from both:
- UVB rays (which cause burning)
- UVA rays (which cause deep, long-term ageing)
Skipping SPF — even on cloudy days — means exposing your skin to these rays daily, accelerating collagen breakdown, pigmentation, and fine lines.
What to Look For
If you’re relying on SPF in your moisturiser or make-up, make sure:
- It’s at least SPF 30
- It clearly says “broad-spectrum”
- You’re using enough product to get full coverage
Multifunctional products are convenient — and a great way to build SPF into your daily routine — but only if they deliver proper protection.
Bottom Line
If you’re serious about protecting your skin and preventing premature ageing, daily SPF isn’t optional — it’s essential. The easiest skincare win? Use a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ every single day, rain or shine.
Because the best anti-ageing cream is the one that keeps the damage from happening in the first place.
