Temple Vitality

The new lifestyle medicine offering from Temple Clinic.

An increasing proportion of the common illnesses and disabilities experienced in today’s Britain are caused or worsened by our unhealthy lifestyles. The good news is that, many conditions can be improved, reversed or prevented by appropriate changes to our lifestyle.

This has given rise to the new specialty of Lifestyle Medicine and Temple’s Dr Sam Robson certified as a Lifestyle Medicine Physician (Dip BSLM/IBLM) at the end of 2020. Temple Clinic was proud to win Society’s award for “Health and Wellbeing” in 2020.

THE STARTING POINT

A comprehensive evaluation of your current health and lifestyle. Relevant blood tests and other appropriate investigations will be conducted in tandem with an assessment of your body composition.

The body composition provides details of your percentage body fat, skeletal muscle mass, fat and muscle distribution around the body, visceral fat levels and basal metabolic rate.

A detailed evaluation will be conducted with regards to your diet and nutrition (with a food diary completed before your first visit), your patterns of physical activity, your sleep and your stress levels.

YOUR PERSONALISED PLAN

This will be formulated and a follow up arranged. There will be comprehensive information available thorough webinars, blog, information sheets and internet links with regard to how you can work to improve your fitness and lifestyle. If appropriate we can refer you on to a specialist nutritionist and advise on local facilities to optimise your physical activity.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING TO MY CONSULTATION?

You will be sent a comprehensive questionnaire to complete in advance of your consultation. Please fill it in with as much detail as possible and return this at least 48 hours before your scheduled appointment. You will also be sent a 5-day food diary to complete. Ideally, complete this over a period of time which includes a weekend since eating habits often change between weekdays and weekends. Take photos of everything you eat and drink - all the data provides a very helpful overview of your current lifestyle.

It is important that you come fasted for 2-4 hours (this means not having anything to eat or drink at all during this period). This is essential preparation for the body composition analysis (which is explained below).

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

The initial consultation costs £249 and is anticipated to last for an hour

WHAT HAPPENS AT THE CONSULTATION?

Dr Sam will have reviewed your questionnaire and food diary ahead of your appointment. You will have a detailed body composition analysis undertaken which will be explained to you during the consultation. Dr Sam will discuss with you the areas of your lifestyle that you may wish to consider working on. She will recommend any further investigations and provide you with a detailed report summarising your discussions
